Company History

Terra Contracting is a full service Land Development Contractor that strives to provide complete turn-key solutions for your projects site development needs.

Established in 1992, Terra Contracting began as a humble operation with a man, a backhoe and a garage. That Man was Ed McSwain, a Las Vegas Native with a customer service oriented approach to a field in which customer service has always lacked. As this family operated business has grown over the years, we have continued to change the way land development contractors operate by raising the standard with each project.

Our dedication to customer service and always putting client’s needs first has led Terra Contracting to the forefront of many pilot programs within the local utility jurisdictions. For example; when Southwest Gas Corporation was looking to allow outside contractors to work on pvc pipe facilities, they came to us to help create, manage and track the first pilot program. We have since been certified by Southwest Gas to install, remove and modify PVC gas lines as well as install mainline valves within the existing infrastructure. Southwest gas has also worked closely with Terra Contracting to create, manage and maintain a G.P.S inspection procedure as Terra was yet again the first in the region to employ G.P.S for as-built information. We are also certified to install all primary and secondary wire and all forms of vaults, pads and transformers for NV Energy as well as complete underground systems for Century Link and Cox Communications. Having the ability to control the flow of work from initial trenching, to final wire pull and site energizing is just one way that Terra Contracting can shave valuable days from your construction schedule.

Along with the ability to complete the “dry” utility scope in its entirety Terra Contracting has proven time and again to be at the head of the pack when it comes to underground “wet” utilities as well. We have installed sewer lines to depths of 50 feet, employing state of the art shoring methods to ensure the utmost safety and security for our workforce while maintaining a schedule beating production rate, we have also completed many Horizontal boring projects under major highways, interstates and Union Pacific railroad systems. Most notably a 400 foot, 36 inch, single bore under Interstate 215 for the Las Vegas Valley Water District.

It is at this point that we begin to truly separate ourselves from our competition. As well as performing the afore mentioned underground utilities Terra Contracting is also a complete grading, paving and site concrete contractor capable of completing everything on your site from the initial clear and grub, over excavation, site cut to fill, complete site concrete, paving, signage and striping all while maintaining a single point of contact and staying true to our philosophy.

In order to ensure that we are able to perform to the best of our ability and exceed your expectations we take the following steps;

It is the last of these steps that truly speaks volumes of Terra Contracting. As we all know, it’s not “If” you fall down, but “when” you fall down and how fast you recover is the standard by which you can truly judge a company. We understand that mistakes will happen, as no one is perfect, but when they do happen, we will, and do, go to whatever lengths necessary to complete the required tasks with the highest levels of humility, expertise and commitment to quality in efforts to maintain a strong working relationship with our clients.

It is our desire to have your complete confidence in the decision to “Partner” with Terra Contracting on your next and future projects.
